FAQ - Steel and Glass Exterior Doors: Testing & Structural Performance

Testing & Structural Performance

What structural performance ratings have INICIO steel doors achieved?

INICIO steel doors have been tested per AAMA/WDMA/CSA 101/I.S.2/A440 and ASTM E330. Steel hinged doors (inswing) achieve CW class DP55 in both nail fin and block frame. Outswing hinged doors reach CW class DP70. Steel direct glazed windows achieve up to CW class DP65 (block frame), and steel casement windows reach CW class DP60 (nail fin). The CW (Commercial Wall) classification confirms these products are engineered for demanding applications.

Are INICIO steel doors suitable for high-wind or hurricane-prone areas?

INICIO steel exterior doors achieve high design pressure (DP) ratings ? up to DP70 for outswing hinged doors ? indicating strong resistance to wind loads and pressure differentials. The cold-formed steel profiles are 20% stronger than hot-rolled alternatives, providing superior structural integrity. For specific hurricane zone compliance, consult with our team about the rated configurations best suited to your project's code requirements.

What testing standards do INICIO steel doors meet?

INICIO steel doors are tested by a third-party testing laboratory to National Fenestration Rating Council (NFRC) standards for energy performance, and per the current versions of AAMA/WDMA/CSA 101/I.S.2/A440 and ASTM E330 for structural performance including air infiltration, water penetration, and design pressure. All NFRC values are pending formal certification.
